PURPOSE:To shorten the period of time required for rewinding an ink sheet and enable the ink sheet to be used multiple times, by a method wherein a set of two thermal transfer ink sheets are prepared, and one of the ink sheets is rewound while the other is used for thermal recording. CONSTITUTION:A cassette 78 is set, in which a new ink sheet 72 is provided on lower spools 74A, 74B, and an ink sheet 71 once completely used for transfer recording is provided on upper spools 73A, 73B. While rotating the spool 74B in the direction of an arrow by rotating a motor M, a printing head 77 is pressed against the base side of the ink sheet 72, and while moving a recording paper 75 in the direction of an arrow by rotating a platen 76, transfer recording is conducted in yellow, magenta and cyan in this order. In this case, the rotation of the motor M is transmitted also to the spool 73B, whereby the ink sheet 71 is rewound in the direction of an arrow F, resulting in that it can be used again for transfer recording. |
