The invention relates to an electrical plug socket for the alternative insertion of different plugs. Protected-contact plug sockets in accordance with DIN 49440, which were also equipped in Form F for alternative insertion of flat plugs in accordance with DIN 49464 have not been proven with respect to the safety requirements, which was a result, in particular, of the retention of the protected-contact spring bracket and the modification to the identifying studs. In order to prevent disadvantages of the aforementioned type, but on the other hand to enable a multiple plugging-in capability in a space-saving manner in a plug socket, the invention adopts the approach of equipping a plug socket which essentially conforms to DIN 49440 with a further four insertion openings for plug pins of flat plugs in accordance with DIN 49464, in Form F. In this case, at least one, and preferably two, blocking studs are provided in the region of the vertical axis, as the significant technical change. As a result of these blocking studs, flat plugs can be inserted only in the vertical direction. However, the contour of the blocking studs additionally also allows contoured plugs in accordance with DIN 49406 in the Form F or R to be inserted into the plug socket. However, the insertion of protected-contact plugs in accordance with DIN 49441 is in consequence blocked.
