A float element (123) for water-sport equipment, such as surfboards, windsurfing boards or the like, comprises a base element (1) and transverse elements (2) arranged laterally thereto, these supporting elements being connected to a surround (3) formed from stretched cords, ropes, straps, tensioning rods or the like and being held together under tension. In this manner, a freely supporting tensioned and supporting structure is created, in the manner of a three-dimensional lattice, so that the float element (123) is particularly lightweight and simple, and the rigidity achieved in the longitudinal axis of the float element (123) guarantees secure and stable operation. <IMAGE>
