PURPOSE:To enable the feeding of raw tea leaves having average characteristics to the tea-processing line, by scattering and throwing the raw leaves to the same position in the lengthwise direction of the storage conveyor in a manner to form a vertical layers with the raw leaves supplied to the conveyor in different time. CONSTITUTION:Raw tea leaves are supplied to a storage tank containing an air-permeable wide conveyor 3 as the storage surface. The conveyor has a length corresponding to the depth of the raw leaf chamber of the tea-processing factory. In the above process, the raw leaves are spread over the width of the storage-face conveyor 3 by circulating the scattering conveyor belts 17, 24a and 24b having relatively narrow width while horizontally swinging the belts. At the same time, the belt is reciprocated as a whole along the length of the conveyor 3. The tea leaves are stacked on the conveyor by this process in a manner to be overlapped one another along the length of the conveyor 3, and vertically laminated layers are formed with the raw leaves supplied in different times. As a result, the raw tea leaves having different characteristics such as species, qualities, etc. and supplied from various tea-producing farmers can be piled up on the conveyor 3 in a mixed state, and raw leaves having average characteristics can be supplied to the tea-processing line.
