PURPOSE:To enable efficient surfacing of an underwater object, by a method wherein a buoyant material, to which a dummy weight is additionally attached, is employed, and the buoyancy of the buoyant material, produced through separation of the dummy weight from the buoyant material, is utilized. CONSTITUTION:The body part of a surfacing device 10 is constituted such that a dummy weight with a given weight is engaged with a buoyant material 2 having buoyancy by means of a locking device, and a locking tool 4 joined with a rope 5 having a hook 5 at its forward end is attached to the buoyant material 2. The surfacing device 10 is adjusted in weight so that the underwater weight of the total device is slightly heavier than the weight of sea water. After the surfacing device 10 is transported to the vicinity of a sunk ship 3, by separating the device from a diving ship, the surfacing device 10 is sunk on the sea bottom thanks to the weight of the dummy weight. After the surfacing devices 10, which are of sufficient number to exceed the underwater weight of an object, intended to be lifted, are thrown on the sea bottom, the devices 10 are coupled to the underwater object, and with this, the dummy weight is separated therefrom, resulting in the possiblility to surface the underwater object by dint of buoyancy of the buoyant material 2.
