The invention relates to a thermal printing platen for a thermal printing device, consisting of an electrically insulating substrate on which resistors which form printing points and current input lines and output lines which contact the said resistors are arranged in accordance with patent 3300104.9-27. In the direct vicinity of the resistors, a magnetic field acts on them and is directed in such a way that when current flows through the resistors the current paths are expelled upwards into the upper part of the resistor towards its surface. The magnetic field can be produced here by means of a permanent magnet or electromagnet.
