The drive motor (3) of the roller massage apparatus comprising an integrated reducing gear (4) is housed in a motor housing (1) such that the gear shaft (4a) projects vertically relative to a rolling membrane (2b), which consists of a tough, soft plastic and forms the treatment surface, of the annular treatment attachment (2). The bracket axle (5) is releasably fastened on the gear shaft (4a) via a coupling (5a), the axle (5) carrying a roller body (6) of any round shape which causes the rolling membrane (2b) to protrude. When the gear shaft turns in anticlockwise/clockwise rotation, intermittent or continuous operation at a frequency of 10 to 100 min<-1>, the roller body (6) rolls along the inside of the rolling membrane (2b) and produces a rotating bulge. During treatment this is transmitted onto the skin where it exerts a considerable depth effect. An alternating anticlockwise/clockwise movement which can resemble, for example, that of a windscreen wiper, can be utilised for mobilisation of blood and lymph from the tissues and transportation thereof toward the heart. The apparatus is applicable for oedemas, vascular congestion, local atrophy of tissues, scars, especially after burns, myogelosis, digestive disorders, general exhaustion and depressions. <IMAGE>
