PURPOSE:To attain not only to enhance dust collection efficiency per unit dust collection area but also to reduce the amount of treating water, by vertically arranging dust collection electrodes, each of which was formed into a rod like or cylindrical form having a circular cross-section and supplying washing water from the upper parts of said electrodes. CONSTITUTION:Washing water supplied to the upper end part of each dust collection electrode 13 having a circular cross-section and provided in a vertically erected state uniformly flows out along the peripheral surface of said dust collection electrode 13. Because the peripheral surface of the dust collection electrode 13 is a smooth circumferential surface, washing water flows down while forming a uniform water film to wash off the dust collected by the dust collection electrode 13 at this time. By this method, effective washing is performed to stably keep the dust collection capacity of the dust collection electrode 13 and the rigidity of the dust collection electrode 13 is sufficiently secured because of its shape to enable the achievement of the lengthening thereof and, as a result, dust collection efficiency is enhanced.
