HEIGHT HOLDING MECHANISM FOR HEAD SUBSTRATE OF MAGNETIC RECORDING TAPE DRIVER

PURPOSE:To attain a simple and miniature structure of the titled mechanism with no large space needed for actuation, by supporting a head substrate which is set on an attachment substrate with three balls which have spot contacts and secure the free movement for the head substrate. CONSTITUTION:A fixed pin 84 of an attahement substrate 24 is put into a guide hole 82 of a head substrate 76 and can be slid. A tension coil spring 96 is hooked between both substrate 24 and 76 and energized to put both substrates close to each other. The substrate 76 is supported by three balls 102 serving as a height holding member for substrate 76 which supports the substrate 76 with spot contacts and free movement. These balls 102 are set in a slit 100 of the substrate 24. In such constitution, the structure of the height holding mechanism is simplified with an easy assembling process. Furthermore a large space is not needed for actuation to miniaturize said mechanism structure.
