PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic tape preventing the generation of a noise by electrostatic charge and having stable traveling performance and high durability by forming an electrically conductive layer having prescribed surface resistivity on at least one cut side of the substrate of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:Electrically conductive layers (vapor-deposited Al films) 4 having <=100OMEGA/cm<2> surface resistivity are formed on the cut sides of a magnetic tape consisting of a molded polymer substrate 1, a thin metallic (Co) film as a magnetic layer 2 and a protective layer 3. A magnetic tape preventing the generation of noise by electrostatic charge and having stable traveling performance and high durability is obtd. |
