PURPOSE:To make automatic resuming of paper carrying operation possible by carrying the paper reversely when occurrence of carrying error is detected, and changing from reverse rotation to normal rotation when the paper is stored in a hopper. CONSTITUTION:Sheets 2 of paper loaded on a hopper 1 are taken in a feeder roller 20 and sent to a carrying roller 21a. Carrying rollers 21a, 21b carry the paper 2 to, for instance, a reading head 6 of an OCR. A sensor 7 detects presence or absence and multiple carrying of the paper 2 and sends the result to a controller. The controller judges occurrence of carrying error based on the result of detection of the sensor 7 or the result of detection of skew when the paper 2 is carrier to the reading head 6 in leaned state. The feeder roller 20 and carrying rollers 21a, 21b are so structured that they are rotated reversely responding to the result of judgement of the controller. When the paper 2 is stored in the hopper 1, a reverse carrying sensor 22 controls the rollers 21a, 21b and 20 to rotate normally again. |
