In the first stage, approximately equal pts. of natural fertiliser and neat are mixed together and the compost is left for about a year in a pile not more than three meters high. It is then redistributed and aerated and left again for a year. After possibly further storage and aeration, about 6% of commercial fertiliser and about 2% of peat mould would be added. The compost is finally left another six months. - Pref. the commercial fertiliser is 10-15% by weight of nitrogen, 2-10% phosphorous, 10-20 potassium nd 45-75% of a carrier. Nitrogen is present as calcium nitrate, phosphorous as luperphosphate and potassium as potassium sulphate. (Provisional Basic previously advised in week 8715)(0/0) |
