PURPOSE:To enable supporting of an optical transmission path to a desired optically optimum position and to enable satisfactory suppression of the optical axis deviation arising in the stage of solder fixing by using a supporting member which is pressed to the aperture window for incidence and emission of light of a package holding an optical element and supports the optical transmission path. CONSTITUTION:A supporting member 13 has a hollow part having the inside diameter approximately equal to the outside diameter of protective pipe 15. The pipe 15 is inserted into said hollow part. A single mode optical fiber 16 is fixed onto the center axis thereof. The lower end face contacts with a flange 11 of a package contg. a light emitting element and the output light 10 of the light emitting element is made incident through the aperture window of the package on the end face of the fiber 16. The pipe 15 is moved in the axial direction of the single mode optical fiber to adjust the distance while the position of the flange 11 is held fixed in the case of performing such optical coupling. The position of the pipe 15 is then fixed and while the member 13 is slided with the outside peripheral surface of the pipe 15, the member is moved downward to butt the end face to the flange 11. The position is further finely adjusted in X-, Y-axis directions on the flange, by which the optical axes of the exit light 10 and the fiber 16 are aligned. |
