PURPOSE:To perform efficiently defect-free welding in the stage of welding steel sheets having a surface coating layer by laser light, by supplying an auxiliary member consisting of a stainless steel to the part to be welded. CONSTITUTION:The positions of an X-Y table 7 and a lens 3 are so adjusted that the part 9 to be welded where one, for example, 6a of members 6a, 6b to be welded consists of a material having a surface coating layer such as, for example, a galvanized steel sheet, is positioned in the focal position of a condenser lens. The condensed spot of laser light 1 is thus irradiated to the part 9 and at the same time, the table 7 is scanned along the part 9. An auxiliary member 10 consisting of a stainless steel wire is supplied to the part 9 in synchronization with the above-mentioned scanning. The part 9 and the member 10 are melted approximately simultaneously by the above-described spot, by which both are fused to each other. The satisfactory weld zone having no ruggedness on the surface and having no blowholes is obtd. The members are efficiently welded without the need for removing the coating layer of the member 6a. |
