PURPOSE:To prolong the life of an impeller as well as to enhance the efficiency of desulfurization by adding a desulfurizing agent to molten pig iron charged into a vessel such as a ladle and rotating the impeller clockwise and counterclockwise to agitate the molten pig iron. CONSTITUTION:A desulfurizing agent 3 is added to molten pig iron 4 charged into a vessel 5 such as a ladle, and an impeller 2 having a vertical rotating shaft 1 is put in the central part of the molten pig iron 4. The impeller 2 is rotated clockwise and counterclockwise with the shaft 1 to agitate and desulfurize the molten pig iron 4. The rotating directions are changed every about 1min. Thus, sufficient mixing and agitation are carried out to accelerate desulfurization, and since the melting loss of the blades 6 of the impeller 2 is made uniform on both sides, the life of the impeller 2 is prolonged. |
