PURPOSE:To make possible the transfer control for combustion promotion, output increase, etc. depending on the operating condition of an engine by providing a plurality of fuel exhaust passages for deciding the lift suppression start position of the needle valve of a fuel injection nozzle and properly using such passages depending on the operating condition of the engine. CONSTITUTION:In a fuel injection nozzle 7, a high pressure fuel is introduced into a pressure fuel chamber 14 from a fuel inlet port 9 and the fuel is injected into a combustion chamber from a fuel injection port 8 by opening a needle valve 16 opposing to a spring 17. In this instant, the lift of the needle valve 16 is specified by the extent of the abutment of the needle valve seat 16a to a plunger member 18. In the above arrangement, two fuel exhaust passages 19, 20 opening to a cylinder 11 of the nozzle body 10 is provided and an electromagnetic closing valve 21 of normal close type is provided to one of the passages 20. The electromagnetic valve 21 is opened by the output of a control circuit 24 and, by this operation a sufficient fuel injection quantity can be secured with samll opening pressure of the needle valve 16. |
