PURPOSE:The titled composition low in residual acrylonitrile monomer content and excellent in strength, heat resistance, chemical resistance, etc., prepared by adding a specified organic compound to an acrylonitrile polymer. CONSTITUTION:An acrylonitrile homopolymer or a copolymer obtained by copolymerizing acrylonitrile monomer with a vinyl monomer (e.g., styrene) in the presence (absence) of a rubbery monomer is mixed with 0.01-3wt% organic compound having at least one of each of a mercapto group and an alcoholic group (e.g., 1,3-dimercapto-2-propanol), and the mixture is melt-blended. In this way, it is possible to obtain the titled composition low in a residual unreacted acrylonitrile monomer content economically within a short time.
