PURPOSE:To obtain an optical information recording medium having a recording film of favorable quantity and capable of recording with favorable contrast, by a method wherein a thin film comprising GeTe as a main constituent is provided on a base, and a part with optical characteristics varied as compared with those of the other parts is provided on the thin film by using energy such as light and heat. CONSTITUTION:The recording film 1 is produced by providing GeTe (for example, Ge: 40-60%, Te: 60-40%) on the base (preferably, a glass plate, a polymethyl methacrylate resin plate or the like) 2 by vacuum deposition or sputtering. Recording and reproduction are conducted by irradiating the recording film 1 with laser light 3 from the base 2 side. EFFECT:Absorption of laser light and accumulation of heat are performed efficiently, and it is possible to use a monolayer film or a weak light source such as semiconductor laser. |
