Ceramic fiber, 7-30 mm long and comprised of 0.5-2 wt.% water, and latex having solid components of 2-12 wt.% for the ceramic fiber, are dispersed homogeneously in water. The spongephase suspension of the ceramic fiber is formed by adding a coagulant to the prepared solution. The suspension is filtered by an absorption method to prepare a lump of ceramic fiber. The prepared lump of fiber is dried. The dried ceramic fiber is fired to eliminate the latex component and to produce ceramic-fiber felt.
