PURPOSE:To permit the broading and leaving a ship in simple and safe ways by installing a spiral staircase inside and supporting an elevating cylinder body whose projection length from the lower edge can be adjusted, through a horizontal stay from a hull. CONSTITUTION:An elevating cylinder 5 consisting of an outer cylinder 7 having a spiral staircase on the upper peripheral surface and a stay 6 which penetrates coaxially with the outer cylinder 7 and whose projection length from the lower edge can be adjusted is installed. The lower edge 11 of the stay 6 of the elevating cylinder 5 is brought into contact with the upper surface of a quay, tugboat, etc. The upper part of the elevating cylinder 5 is supported by a horizontal stay 4 which is rotatable and connected to a motor 14 on a ship. The elevating cylinder 5 is positioned horizontally in the form of shaft by the revolution of the horizontal stay 4 and accommodated into the deck side of the ship. Thus, crew- members and passengers can board and leave the ship even on the sea or at the quay, and the automatic operation of the ship and the economization of man power can be propelled.
