NEW MATERIAL:An antibiotic substance YN-0165J-(A) expressed by the formula. Appearance; Colorless crystals. Melting point; 120-121 deg.C. Elementary analysis; Found (%); C, 41.42; H, 6.68; N, 20.64; 0, 31.26. Molecular formula; C7H13N3O4. Molecular weight; 203. Specific rotatory power [alpha]D<d>22 0 deg. (C=0.5, H2O). Solubility; Readily soluble in water and DMSO, soluble in methanol and insoluble in acetone, ethyl acetate, benzene and hexane. Color reactions; Positive to ninhydrin and negative to the Lieberman reaction, etc. USE:An antimicrobial agent exhibiting an activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacetria. PREPARATION:A strain (FERM-P No.7354), belonging to the genus Streptomyces, and having the ability to produce the substance YN-0165J-(A) is cultivated in a liquid medium under aerobic conditions to obtain the antibiotic substance expressed by the formula from the culture fluid.
