NEW MATERIAL:A dihydropyridine derivative shown by the formula I (R<1> is 1- 10C alkyl; R<2> is H, group shown by the formula II, or formula III; A is 1-10C alkylene which may be interrupted by O) or its salt. EXAMPLE:8-Aminooctyl methyl 2,6-dimethyl-4-(m-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine- 3,5-dicarboxylate. USE:A drug having both calcium antagonizing action and beta blocking action. A remedy for ischemic cardiac disease and hypertension. PREPARATION:A dihydropyridine derivative shown by the formula IV (X is halogen) having a halogenoalkyl (or halogenoalkoxyalkyl) ester at 5 position is reacted with an amine shown by the formula R<2>'-B (R<2>' is R<2> or K when R is phthalimide; B is amino, etc.), to give a compound shown by the formula I .
