PURPOSE:To provide the titled element capable of forming optical image pattern according to the optical signal scanning from optical signal emitter using laser oscillator, comprising a liquid crystal composition made up of a liquid crystal and compound of specific formula. CONSTITUTION:The objective element comprising a liquid crystal composition prepared by dissolving in (A) a liquid crystal (optimally, either A- or C-phase of smectic liquid crystal with positive dielectric anisotropy) (B) pref. 1-3wt% of a compound of formula [R1-R7 are each H, halogen or monovalent organic residue (optimally, alkyl or alkoxy)]. USE:Large-sized graphic display, optical disc system with recording scheme, etc.
