COUPLING METHOD OF OPTICAL ELEMENT AND OPTICAL FIBER

PURPOSE:To decrease the coupling loss between an optical element and an optical fiber by molding integrally the optical element and an auxiliary optical fiber in the state of coupling optically the same. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter 11 is built in a connector 10 provided with a transmitter side element. A light emitting element 12 and a multi-component glass optical fiber 14 are united to one body. The chip 13 of the element 12 and the fiber 14 are fixed in the position where the coupling loss is min. The fiber 14 is freely attachably and detachably connected to a quartz corepolymer clad optical fiber 5 by using a connector 6. An auxiliary optical fiber 24 and a photodetector 22 are also united to one body in a corrector 20 with an element contg. a receiver 21 on the receiver side. The fiber 24 and a photodetector chip 23 are fixed in the position where the coupling loss is min. The fibers 5 and 24 are freely attachably and detachably connected by a connector 7.
