<p>The station has crabs guided to it in an enclosed track and driven by pins on a continuously-driven chain in an enclosed track above. The intervals between the pins are greater than the crab length, while each crab has a front lever uncoupling it from its pin on encountering a crab in front. The driving chain track runs at a higher level at the station, so that the pins are free of the crabs in their track, which runs straight through. The pins are engaged by a second chain at the side, with the pins at clover intervals, and moved in groups into the straight section of the track and closer together. A third chain of still finer pitch then engages with the crabs, temporarily halting them, and a fourth chain of the same pitch as the main one spaces them out again and recouples them with it where it returns to the normal level. The four chains are driven together by a chain running between the main and third chains.</p> |
