PURPOSE:To obtain an impact printer which generates no noise and has no fear of soiling hands or clothes by constituting the surface of a platen with a foamed elastomer impregnated with thermal ink which is used after melting. CONSTITUTION:Printing paper 20 is arranged between a platen 4 and a type wheel 5 and thermal ink impregnated into a foamed elastomer in the circumferential wall of a platen by an electric heater 10. This thermal ink is melted and at the same time, any type 5b is selected by a type selection motor 6. This selected type is stricken from the back by a plunger 9 of a hammer drive magnet 7. Ink sticks to the surface of printing paper 20 in the shape of the type 5b, thus performing a printing as required. |
