PURPOSE:To make hardenability uniform and to obtain sintered sliding parts which can prevent deformation by subjecting the sintered parts formed by compression molding, sintering and sizing by pressing of metallic powder to a flattening operation of the sliding surface to smooth the surface prior to a heat treatment. CONSTITUTION:One or several kinds of metallic powders are green compact- molded and sintered and are sized by a press to obtain sintered sliding parts 5. The sliding surface 6 where many holes 7... exist on the surface of the projecting parts 5a of such parts 5 is smoothed by flattening. The flattening is accomplished by fitting the projecting parts 5a to thread grooves 9 inscribed to a revolving shaft 8 and moving back and forth the parts 5 along the longitudinal direction of the shaft 8. The surface 6 is thus flattened. C and N2 are intruded (carbonitriding) into the hatched surface layer shown in the figure of the parts 5 after flattening and further the surface is subjected to hardening and tempering treatment by which the surface 6 is hardened and the intended sintered sliding parts are obtd.
