PURPOSE:To prevent a disk from damage by shifting a magnetic head to a track except an effective recording disk after recording and reproduction have been completed in the condition where a magnetic head is floated from a magnetic disk. CONSTITUTION:Two magnetic disks 2 are fixed on a spindle 3 and sealed in a dusttight-type container 1 together with a magnetic head 4. A disk rotating motor 7 is arranged outside the container 1, and coupled to the spindle 3. Four heads 4 are supported by the spindle 3 so that they can float in the high-speed rotational condition. A head moving motor 10 consists of stepping motors, and a control circuit 17 is connected to the motor 10 through a drive circuit 16. The circuit 17 shifts the head 4 to a landing track TM+1 of effective recording tracks T0-Tm by the time when floating of the head 4 cannot be held after the specific recording and reproduction have been completed. Thus the contact with a head and a disk on an effective recording track can be prevented.
