The invention relates to an X-ray tube (1) having a high-vacuum bulb (2) in which the cathode (3) is electrically isolated from the anode (5) by means of a vitreous part of the vacuum bulb (2). In this case, a high load capability and hence a high dielectric strength are the aim. To this end, the invention provides for the inside of the electrically insulating vitreous bulb part (2) to be provided with roughening (16). X-ray tubes having a high dielectric strength which is increased according to the invention, can be used especially in medical X-ray diagnostics. <IMAGE>
