PURPOSE:To keep contact of plates with separators even when electrolyte is reduced to increase life by arranging a porous body having larger pore diameter than that of separator in the upper space of a plate group. CONSTITUTION:A porous body 4 having larger pore diameter than that of separator 2 serving as a retainer is arranged in the upper space of a plate group. Reduction of electrolyte begins with the porous body 4, and eletrolyte volume in a cathode plate 1, an anode plate 3, and a separator does not vary, and contact of plates 1 and 3 with the separator 3 is kept, and decrease of capacity is prevented and life is increased. Acid resistant rubber or polymer material, cloth or nonwoven sheet of nylon, acryl resin, or glass fibers is preferably used for the porous body 4. |
