The chain, with oval links (1) made of round steel bar, is connected to a bolt or pin (3) with the aid of a special fitting (2). The fitting is U shaped with its inner radius matching the bolt. The inner surface also has a transverse curvature to match a circumferential grooVe in the bolt. The width of this groove is less than the width of the fitting (2). The legs (7) of the fitting (2) extend axially to prevent it rotating relative to the link. ADVANTAGE - The fitting prevents wear of the bolt or of the chain link.
