Coordinate measuring machine in which a device for moving a probe tip system (3) is supported on the machine base (1) by means of aerostatic bearings (5), each of which contains a bearing body (9) which forms a working gap (11) with the surface (10) of the base (1) facing it and has a system of bores (12, 15, 17) for blowing compressed air into the working gap (11). A projection (19) in the form of an elastic element is formed on the bearing body (9), which elastic element embraces the supporting component (20) of the device for moving the probe tip system (3) and forms an enclosed cavity (22) which is connected to a compressed-air source (8) through a throttle bore (25) and is connected directly to the system of bores (12, 15, 17). <IMAGE>
