The invention relates to a grinding unit, in particular a corn mill attachment of a household kitchen machine, having a rotating grinding element attached to a drive shaft and a housing in which an adjusting sleeve bearing a fixed grinding element is guided displaceably in the axial direction of the drive element and an adjusting ring which interacts with the adjusting sleeve via adjusting threads and serves as an operating member is guided rotatably about the axle. In this case, a grinding unit of a compact, closed construction is to be provided which is user-friendly. For this purpose, it is proposed to provide the housing (36) with a guide sleeve (62) which is coaxial with the drive shaft (44) and has some through-openings (90) which are distributed around the circumference and in which locking elements (92) are loosely inserted, said locking elements (92) having sections (94) which project outwards beyond the guide sleeve (62), serve as axial stops and guides for the adjusting ring (50) and rest with an inner end section (96) inside the guide sleeve (62) against the outside of the adjusting sleeve (70) for safeguarding against inward displacement.
