In a heating boiler for solid fuels, a firing door is provided on the front side which extends transversely in the upper region and which extends over practically the whole boiler width. The grate on the underside is arranged within the combustion chamber in the forward half of the boiler. Furthermore, several rows of individual pipes, which themselves have a respective bend or curve, are situated within the combustion chamber. The individual pipes are connected on both the feed and the return side to the rear boiler wall, through which water flows. Large pieces of solid fuel can thus be supplied in the transverse direction to the heating boiler, which overall has a compact structure and is consequently suitable as a heating boiler for a private household. The arrangement of the individual pipes is such that a good heat efficiency is obtained, the boiler is charged in a manner which is easy to operate, without jamming of the pieces of solid fuel, and especially, a cleaning of the individual pipes can be carried out easily.
