[Also in Division F1] A ventilating and heating device for motor vehicles comprises a first housing 2 attached to the dashboard apron 1 and containing a heat exchanger 3 and a rotary distributing member 4 which can be adjusted to distribute warm air to either or both of two outlet ports 5, 6, and a disconnectable second housing 7 having an air inlet port (7a), Fig. 2 (not shown) through which an axial flow fan and motor assembly (8, 9) may be introduced into the housing 7. The housing 2, 7 are shaped at 2a, 7b for mutual airtight seating engagement. The distributing member 4 comprises a reel-shaped element 4a with vanes 4c, 4d, having resilient packing 4c, 4f. In the positions, shown the vanes block off a constricted part 12 of the housing so that no air passes to the' windscreen through the port 5 or to the interior of the vehicle through the port 6. The heat exchanger 3 has connections 3a, 3b to the engine cooling system. The housing 7 has baffles (20, 21), Fig. 5 (not shown) deflecting, air moisture into traps (22a, 22b) and is surmounted by a cover (10) with air inlet slots (11). In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown). the heat exchanger does not completely fill the cross-section of the housing 2 the remainder constituting a by-pass passage (26) controllable by an adjustable flap (27).</p> |
