A method is proposed for controlling the power of the heat source (1 and 40 respectively) of a soldering device with automatic infeed of a certain length of soldering wire to be melted to the soldering location (2, 3 and 34 respectively) during each soldering operation, in which method the time between the landing of the soldering wire (5, 7 and 29, 33 respectively) on the soldering location (2, 3 and 34 respectively) and the melting away of the predetermined length of wire is measured and evaluated to control the power of the heat source (1 and 40 respectively). This makes it possible to keep the soldering time constant at all times, even if the soldering parameters change. <IMAGE>
