The subject of the invention is a device for the releasable connection of a brake cable assembly to an expansion lever brake using a connecting element between an expansion lever and the end of the bowden cable provided with a retaining ball. In order to make manufacture of the connecting element easier and to increase the safety of the fixing it is proposed that the connecting element (8) be formed from a wire and that a hook (10) for hanging on the expansion lever (3) be formed on one side and a helically wound, open catching element (12) on the other for threading in the bowden cable (6) and gripping behind the retaining ball (7). <IMAGE>
