Inking device for the types on typewriters and similar office machines

The inking device serves to allow a visible impression of the types on typewriters with summary type carriers, dispensing with ink ribbons and similar ink carriers, in that the colorant required for the impression-transfer is applied to the type prior to the impression. In addition to a considerable reduction of the weight of the type carrier carriage, the use of the inking device leads to an improvement of the visibility of the characters printed, to improved accessibility during servicing and to substantial lengthening of the replacement intervals of the colorant reservoir. Additionally, the fact that ink ribbons and the like are dispensed with leads to a reduction of the cost during manufacture and use of the typewriters. The ink is transferred to the type to be impressed during the intermediate setting of the summary type carrier in that a disc is pressed against the type, said disc being provided with a defined ink film and being rotated stepwise. The defined ink film is formed on the disc by the bearing of its plane-parallel surface against a stationary, plane-parallel surface. <IMAGE>
