The invention relates to a circuit arrangement for charging electrochemical accumulators without limitation in the absorption of charging current, especially for power supplies which operate independently of a network, that is say in insular operation, and which are intended to ensure a continuous supply to the connected load. In the case of such power supplies, it often arises that the energy offered electrically by the energy converter cannot be absorbed and must be dissipated, because the accumulator has reached a charge state in which only a limited charging current supply is still possible, that is to say because it is approaching the fully charged state which must be brought about from time to time in order to maintain the storage capacity. The invention describes measures and devices by means of which energy consumption which is unrestricted in the context of the existing energy offer can be achieved by the accumulator and, nevertheless, the full charging which is necessary from time to time.
