<p>PURPOSE:To suppress the growth of a perishable plant, preserve the freshness thereof for a long period and prevent the growth of molds, by the presence of a gas of a saturated hydrocarbon and/or a halogenated hydrocarbon in a container for preserving the perishable plant. CONSTITUTION:A gas of a saturated hydrocarbon, e.g. propane or butane, and/or a halogenated hydrocarbon, e.g. trichlorofluoromethane or trichlorotrifluoroethane, is present in a container containing a perishable plant, e.g. an agricultural product such as vegetable, fruit or mushroom, a flowering plant such as a cut flower, or a seedling or seed of a plant in at least 0.01vol% gas concentration in the atmosphere thereof.</p> |
