PURPOSE:To prevent fog or color mixing by separating and removing a toner electrostatically charged to unnecessary polarity with an electric field applied to a conductive fur brush. CONSTITUTION:The first toner 5 is charged positively inside the first developing device 4, but when it is mixed into the second developing device 7, it is reversed in charge to negative polarity by friction with the second toner 8 positively charged. A toner separator comprises a suction casing 12 and a conductive brush 13 installed in it near a sleeve 10 or in contact with it. For example, 500V voltage 14a is applied to the brush 13, and only the toner 5 reversed negatively of both toners 5, 8 is attached to the brush 13 and removed with suction air through the suction opening of the casing 12. As a result, fog or color mixing can be prevented. |
