Chiral, N-protected, N-substituted alpha -amino acids

Chiral N-protected, N-substituted alpha -amino acids are described. These compounds are prepared by condensation of an N-protected alpha -amino acid with an aldehyde followed by the selective reductive cleavage of an oxazolidinone intermediate.
