PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic sensitive body which obviates generation of image defects by forming rough surface parts at both ends of a base on which an amorphous silicon photosensitive layer is deposited so that the photosensitive layer joins securely to the base to prevent exfoliation from propagating to the central smooth photosensitive layer. CONSTITUTION:Rough surface parts 2 having <=2.5S surface roughness are formed by machining, sand blasting, etc. at both ends of the outside surface of a base drum 1 consisting of an Al alloy, etc. and the remaining central part is finished to a specular surface in the stage of forming an amorphous silicon photosensitive layer 3 on the outside circumference of the drum 1. The layer 3 is then formed by a decomposition method of gaseous SiH4 by glow discharge, etc. The cause for generating exfoliation of the layer 3 is prevented by the high adhesion between the parts 2 and the base 1. The photosensitive body which obviates image defects and has high reliability is thus obtd. |
