POSITION RECOGNIZING APPARATUS FOR DRIVER OF VEHICLE

PURPOSE:To improve the running safety of a vehicle and operability thereof by recognizing 3-D position of a driver in the room utilizing an ultrasonic wave. CONSTITUTION:A detector section 3 is made up of an ultrasonic wave oscillator 3a (3a1-3aN) arranged in parallel in an indicator panel and an ultrasonic wave receiver 3b (3b1-3bN) and an ultrasonic wave emitted therefrom 3 irradiates the vicinity of the head of a driver. Then, the detector section 3 is driven to turn at one cycle per revolution of a motors 6 on the rotating shaft 4. The detected light of a photosensor 14 is intercepted only by a convex 13 of a disc 8. Therefore, a pulse signal of the sensor 14 is outputted to an electronic control circuit 7 at each cycle of the detector section 3. An ultrasonic wave emitted from an oscillator 3a and reflected from an object to be measured is received with a receiver 3b and the detection signal from the receiver 3b is outputted to the circuit 7. The signal inputted into the circuit 7 undergoes various computations to obtain the 3-D position of a driver in the room the closest to the detector section 3.
