PURPOSE:To simplify the construction of a rolling mill by providing a horizontal roll bending device to the latter of upper and lower work rolls whose offset quantities are made large and small respectively, in a rolling mill provided with an intermediate roll between one of the upper and lower work rolls and a backup roll. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower intermediate rolls 5, 6 are provided to the spaces between upper and lower work rolls 1, 2 and upper and lower backup rolls 9, 10 respectively. Each of the rolls 1, 2 is off set by a prescribed quantity in the direction parallel to the advancing direction of a rolling material S, and the offset quantity of roll 2 is made larger than that of the roll 1. Further, the centers of the rolls 1, 2 and that of the roll 5 are positioned approximately on the same straight line l1. A horizontal roll bending device 13 is provided to the offset side of roll 2. At the time of rolling, the material S is passed between the rolls 1, 2 in a slanted state so that the material S perpendicularly intersects with the line l1, to roll the material S by providing the desired roll bendings to the rolls 1, 2 with the aids of the device 13 and vertical roll bending devices 17-23. |
