PURPOSE:To lubricate uniformly upper and lower work rolls by specifying the diameters of work rolls and the passing direction of a material in a rolling mill, having work rolls one of which is offset in the prescribed direction and an intermediate roll capable of horizontal roll bending. CONSTITUTION:Upper and lower work rolls 1, 3 are equal in diameter, and the roll 3 is offset in the direction parallel to the advancing direction of a metallic strip S. The centers of rolls 1, 3 and that of an upper backup roll 5 are positioned approximately on the same straight line l1, and an intermediate roll 9 is interposed between a lower backup roll 7 and the roll 3. Further, vertical bending devices 11, 12, 13, and 19 are installed between the roll chocks 2, 4 of rolls 1, 3, the roll chocks 2, 6 of rolls 1, 5, the roll chocks 4, 10 of rolls 3, 9, and the roll chocks 10, 8 of rolls 9, 7, respectively. A horizontal roll bending device 14 is installed at the outlet side of the stand of roll 3. Then the strip S is passed in the direction approximately perpendicular to the straight line l1. |
