PURPOSE:To recover the titled compound useful as a sweetener easily in high yield, by adding a specific amount or more of a salt to an aqueous solution containing the titled compound. CONSTITUTION:A salt, e.g. sodium formate, sodium citrate, sodium sulfate or sodium acetate, is added to an aqueous solution containing L-aspartyl-L-phenylalanine or a lower alkyl ester thereof to give >=50mM concentration and crystallize the aimed compound, which is then collected.
