PURPOSE:A safe, inexpensive remedy for pimples of optical use and pharmaceutical preparation for remedying pimples, having the same effects as that of existing remedy by ODT therapy, comprising ethanol as a main component. CONSTITUTION:A remedy for pimples of external use, comprising ethanol as a main component, and, if necessary, purified water and a humectant (e.g., glycerin, etc.). The remedy is impregnated into a carrier to give a pharmaceutical preparation for remedying pimples. It has been found that ODT therapy of aqueous solution of ethanol is extremely effective for pimples regardless of the concentration, and as the same effects as that of internal use of existing antibiotic. Antimicrobial action on causative agent of acne of alcohol may be cited as its action mechanism. The remedy has more fat solubility than sulfur camphor lotion, is more easily permeated into folliculus pili, and shows antimicrobial action. It suppresses sebum retention in folliculus pili, and inhibits comedo and steatorrhea. It has further a refreshing feeling, and is a useful remedy for pimples.
