Ball training appliance with a striking arm which can be moved into engagement with a ball and is mounted to swivel about a horizontal axis, about which it can be moved, describing a section of a circular track, between an initial position reaching back ready to shoot and an end position and, with its lower end, approximately at the lowermost point of the movement path, impacts on the ball in a shot-initiating position, with a shooting ramp which determines the shot-initiating position and holds the ball having a drive and restoring device for the impact arm, and a control device by means of which the shooting movement of the impact arm and the restoring procedure can be initiated, the impact arm (4) lying, in its initial position, in the region of the upper zenith of the movement path and being releasably held there by a catching device (5), and the drive and restoring device has a pneumatic, double-action piston/cylinder arrangement (2) and a toothed rod (31) connected to the piston/cylinder arrangement which, via a pinion arrangement, engages on the axis of the impact arm (4). <IMAGE>
