The invention relates to a hinge fastening for vehicle doors, with at least two hinges, in which in each case one hinge plate is connected firmly to the vehicle door and the other hinge plate located on the body is fastened releasably to the door frame of the vehicle body and has, in addition, fixing means engaging positively with one another and forming positive and negative cylindrical guide faces. A bore in the hinge plate located on the body is provided as a negative guide face which has a substantial oversize in comparison with the guide face on the door frame. This oversize can be bridged by an insertable auxiliary tool which bears with slight play against the two guide faces. This brings about a positive connection which fixes the door after adjustment and alignment. The guide face located on the body is attached only after the door has been aligned and fixed for the first time. Since the auxiliary tool can be inserted and removed again at any time, the space required in the region of the hinge plate located on the body is very small, and moreover a subsequent modification of the hinge-plate position relative to the door frame is possible at any time.
